Enes Ünal returns to Valladolid
Turkish striker Enes Ünal, who spent last season on loan with Real Valladolid from Villarreal, was announced to be rejoining the club for the upcoming season.
The forward scored six times in the previous campaign and, despite being criticised from some sections of support for a lack of scoring return, ended the year strongly and was an integral part of the team’s survival in the Primera Liga.
Ünal had been rumoured to be returning to Valladolid for much of the close-season, so the announcement that he has agreed a one-year loan deal was not a surprise but was welcomed warmly by management and fans alike. The 22-year-old’s efforts in the latter stages of the season turned opinions around and he will link up again with strike partner Sergi Guardiola who joined in January from Córdoba while on loan at Getafe. The recent addition of forward, Sandro, on a year’s deal from Everton bolsters the Pucela attack, while the team continues to scout strikers in a bid to enhance last season’s modest scoring tally of 32 goals in 38 league matches.
