Kiko Olivas and Míchel latest to renew contracts

In what has been a busy week in the Real Valladolid offices, further positive news has emerged regarding the contracts of Kiko Olivas and Míchel Herrero. Both players have signed deals which will keep them at the club for at least the upcoming season.

Kiko Olivas has extended his contract with Real Valladolid until 2022, the club announced on Tuesday via their official site. The 30-year-old defender became a mainstay in the back four last season, playing all but three of the league games and developed a solid partnership with Fernando Calero at centre-back.

Midfielder Míchel, also 30 years old, has agreed one more year with the blanquivioleta, with the option of a further season if agreeable to all parties. The centre-midfielder is vastly experienced with spells at Spanish clubs Valencia, Deportivo, Hércules CF, Levante, Getafe and Real Oviedo, followed by time in China with Guangzhou R&F immediately before joining Pucela on a free transfer in August 2016. He has been tipped to play more of a leadership role in the wake of Borja’s retirement, having donned the armband on several occasions last year.
