Real Valladolid fall to Granada loss
Friendly Match:Marbella Football Center, Marbella, Spain
Granada 2 (Soldado 13’, Puertas 27’)
Real Valladolid 1 (Óscar Plano 45’)
All the goals in this match came in the first half as Real Valladolid encountered their first loss of the preseason at the hands of Granada.
Experienced striker Roberto Soldado, a summer signing for the Nasrids, took advantage of confusion in the Pucela penalty area shortly before the quarter-hour mark to smash the ball high past Jordi Masip into the net.
The second goal for Diego Martínez’s men arrived on the 27th minute, when a driven ball from the left flank flashed all the way across goal to be met by Antonio Puertas who touched the ball under the advancing Masip to double their advantage.
Óscar Plano reduced the deficit shortly before halftime following a neat interchange of passes with Enes Ünal. His sidefooted shot from the edge of the area nestled neatly past Rui Silva in the Granada goal.
The second half offered nothing more in the way of goals but Granada certainly edged the possession and chances in their favour. Masip was called into action just before an hour had been played to deny a fine strike from distance by Carlos Neva.
Sergio kept the first of his substitutions until the hour mark, making a trio of changes. Álvaro Aguado replaced Anuar, Toni Villa was brought on for Waldo and Pablo Hervías took the place of Jorge De Frutos on the right wing.
Granada continued to press and were unfortunate to not extend their lead as substitute Adrián Ramos hit the post with Masip beaten.
On the balance of play, Martinez’s side were the better of the two and it gives Sergio plenty to consider as Pucela take on Mallorca at the same venue on Sunday evening.
